Rematches of Classic MMA Matches I Most Looking Forward To
by: Ray Chin On Mar 9, 2010 02:05:57 pm

In the coming months, there are a few fights that are shaping up to be rematches of classic MMA matches.  All are exciting fighters to watch for various reasons and these fights have been proven to be great matchups.  I expect these fights would be just as or more entertaining compared to their past fights.

Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz 3

Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz are past their prime but both have storied careers in the UFC and they are among first stars in MMA.  Now they are the opposing coaches in The Ultimate Fighter 11 (which starts March 31).  Tito Ortiz may be the best trash talker in MMA and I am sure fireworks would fly during the show (although I doubt it can get to Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans level).  The Iceman won the previous two bouts via KO and TKO and I hope he goes for the sweep because&nbs

Schumacher Ready to Fight
by: Madawa Rajapaksha On Mar 9, 2010 01:41:29 pm

After three years of absence, the seven-time Formula 1 champion will be back to defend his title and get more than 100 victories.  Schumacher gave an interview three days before the racing starts.

The expectations are really high for the German racer. People expect only the title. Schumacher is not that sure about it. According to him, they have a good car, but not as good as the main competitors. They won’t be able to win right from the start. But he isn’t worried. It’s a long season and it’s not important to be first at the start. It’s important to use the long season to end at the top. He was quo

MLB 10: The Show Review: The King Has Returned
by: Andy Basantes On Mar 9, 2010 10:27:50 am

The release of God of War III and Heavy Rain has a lot of PS3 owners pounding their chest in conquest in the so-called "Console Wars". However, in my opinion, the crown jewel exclusive title under sony's belt is the MLB franchise.

Microsoft could always compete with Sony in terms of action-adventure games, FPS (First-Person Shooters), etc. However, one field t hat the XBOX can't even hold a candle to sony's bad boy...baseball.

If you are a baseball fan and own both systems, than there is only one clear choice for you. If you are the unfortunate 360 owner who has to press your nose against the window, regretting that you won't have the chance to play this beast of a title...well than I'd heavily consider trading in that "Ring of Death" wai

Big East & Atlantic 10 Tournament Breakdowns
by: Adam Ganeles On Mar 9, 2010 09:54:08 am

Big East Tournament

March 9th-13th at Madison Square Garden

Favorite: #1 Syracuse- The Orange present the most balanced and prolific top 7 in the country. They have shooters and distributors, slashers and bangers. Forward Wesley Johnson was named to the All-Big East first team, and could be the conference's Player of the Year. Big man Arinze Onuaku finished the season strong with four consecutive strong efforts. When he plays aggressively, with his raw power he's nearly impossible to stop. Syracuse has gotten tremendous bench work from Kris Joseph and "Scoop" Jardine all year. Joseph is a relentless attacker of the tin and force in transition, while Jardine is a creative point guard who runs the show and gets people the ba

Big Ben Back on the Stand
by: Alex Oppenheimer On Mar 8, 2010 07:14:52 pm

Becoming a professional athlete, whether it is in the National Basketball Association, National Football League, or any other prominent sport in America comes with a price. The financial success and fame are nice aspects, but how would you fare living a life under the microscope and with a big, orange bulls eye centered on your back? Doesn’t sound so easy to me.

If a player really did do something wrong in the timeframe of nanoseconds when a camera isn’t within their immediate radius to capture they’re every movement, that’s another story. However, these individuals’ contract information is made public, meaning it immediately makes them

A Year To Forget for "The Answer"
by: Alex Oppenheimer On Mar 8, 2010 05:35:11 pm

What happened to Allen Iverson? You know, the guy who was known for his toughness and grittiness, especially for someone who stands just at six feet tall. In a league dominated by explosive athletes and big men in the paint, Iverson found a way to get his points and become one of the most consistent contributors in the NBA over the last 10 years.

Things started to turn downhill after the 2007-08 season with the Denver Nuggets, his last full season with the team before being traded to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups. This move is arguably the single worst deal of recent years. If the Pistons’ rapid decline from an Eastern Conference

Pop or Drop: WEC 47 Main Card Fighters
by: Ray Chin On Mar 8, 2010 02:07:46 pm

It is no secret that dominant wins are necessary to build up fighters' fan bases especially in the WEC who doesn't have as much exposure as the UFC and maybe even Strikeforce.  Some young and exciting fighters after WEC 47 are clearly on the up and up (pop) at the expense of others (drop).  The main event and the co- maint event especially had shocking results.

Pop:

Dominick Cruz

Cruz look dominant against Brian Bowles who was widely regarded as the best bantamweight fighter in the world before this match.  Cruz was just too quick and was changing looks too often for Bowles to answer.  Even if Bowles lost via his broken hand (which is a tough break no pun intended), it looked like it was just a matter of time before Cruz sealed the deal.  Dominick Cruz is now the champion and maybe the be

Championship Monday
by: Adam Ganeles On Mar 8, 2010 12:20:41 pm

Weekend Winners:

Louisville- The Cards second win over Syracuse covers up bad home losses to Charlotte and Western Carolina. Rarely used sophomore guard Kyle Kuric exploded with 22 points in 19 minutes on Saturday in the final game at Freedom Hall.

Notre Dame- They refuse to lose. The Irish overcame a six point deficit in the final minute of regulation to knock off Marquette in OT and claim their 4th straight victory. Carleton Scott hit the game tying three as time expired. Luke Harangody came off the bench in his return, and will remain in that role according to coach Mike Brey.

Virginia Tech- The Hokies finally got themselves a significant road win

The Ultimate Question: What If?
by: Alex Oppenheimer On Mar 7, 2010 10:16:27 pm

The world of sports is as unpredictable as they come. Whether you’re talking about a buzzer beater in the NBA, a 15-seed beating a 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, a major comeback in the NFL, or a 15-shot win by Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open in Pebble Beach. You never know what may happen until there are triple zeroes on the clock or someone is physically handed the trophy.

There is one question that doesn’t exactly have an answer. It can only be pondered of and patiently waited on until something happens. Asking ‘what if” in sports has endless, and yes, unpredictable opportunities to venture out from what is expected in the

Michael Jordan: The Ghost Owner
by: Alex Oppenheimer On Mar 7, 2010 01:53:17 pm

Michael Jordan has already proven far and beyond the dominance, determination, and skill he possessed on the basketball court. With a legacy as arguably the greatest basketball player ever to have stepped foot on a court, MJ is not the type just to disappear into a happy retirement. I don’t think that the world would really let him do that. Low and behold, Jordan’s position as once minority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats to now majority owner has received some opposing views of criticism, something that he may not be so used to.

What do you generally see in your typical NBA owner? Well for starters, how about their face? I know the Bobcat’s aren’t featured on primetime NBA games on
